International Day of the Girl Child

ST. BRIDGET SCHOOL will use our voices to fight for equality and rights of the girl child.

In countless instances, the girl child has been exposed to unreasonable discrimination and violence. They are silenced and caged with their natural rights are refused. The exclusion of girls is rooted in institutional oppression, structural gender discrimination, systematic gender abuse, and patriarchal power structures of supremacy.

We shall acknowledge that each and every girl should be guaranteed to enable their rights and voices as individuals, as women, and as members of society. Let us strive to establish a community wherein the needs of every girl is fulfilled, their voices are heard, and especially their rights are valued and respected. With this, girls can make a difference in society that will result in a better place.

As Malala Yousafzai said, “I raise up my voice — not so I can shout but so that those without a voice can be heard. We cannot succeed when half of us are held back.”

Let us fight for equality and the rights of the girl child! Join us, in our Twitter campaign and use the hashtags #MyVoiceOurEqualFuture #IDG2020 to emphasize and focus on different stories of challenges and successes the girl child has faced. Help us amplify their voices through this online campaign.
